Privacy Policy
Cleanly is an Android app published by TNPixel ("we", "us"). The short version: your photos, videos and files never leave your phone through us. Cleanly has no account, no server of ours and no analytics. This policy lists what is processed and by whom.
What stays on your device
- Your photos, videos and files are scanned and analyzed on your device (file size, a content fingerprint, blur and brightness measures, on-device image labels, faces for closed-eye detection, and text recognition for sensitive documents). The results are kept in a private database on your phone to make later scans faster. Nothing is uploaded, and no recognized text is stored.
- Cleaning actions use Android's own confirmation dialogs. On Android 11 and later, removed items go to Android's trash for 30 days before they are deleted for good. We keep a local log of how much space you reclaimed.
- Compressed or converted copies are saved to your gallery (Pictures/Cleanly, Movies/Cleanly, Music/Cleanly). Original files are only removed if you ask.
- Private vault: photos and videos you add are encrypted on your device with a key kept in the Android Keystore. The vault is lost if you uninstall the app or clear its data.
- Settings, reminders, streaks and badges are stored on your device.
Services used by the app
- Google AdMob shows ads to free users. AdMob may collect device and advertising identifiers, approximate location (from IP address), and usage data to serve and measure ads. In the EEA, UK and similar regions you are asked for consent through Google's consent form. Ads can be removed with Premium. See Google's advertising policy.
- RevenueCat manages Premium subscriptions. It receives an anonymous app user identifier, your purchase and subscription status and basic technical information (app version, device model, OS and country), as described in RevenueCat's privacy policy. We do not receive your name, email or payment details.
- Google Play processes payments. Google Play services provides the on-device ML Kit models used for image labels, faces and text recognition; analysis happens on your phone.
Permissions
- Photos and videos (and audio): to find duplicates, large and unneeded media and to compress or clean them. This is the core function of the app. You can choose to share only selected photos, with fewer features.
- Access to photo location: to show and remove location data stored in your photos. It is only read on your device.
- Notifications, foreground service and boot completed: to show progress of background compression, to send reminders you turn on, and to restore reminders after a restart.
- Usage access (optional): if you grant it in Android settings, Cleanly shows which apps you have not opened for a long time and their size. This data stays on your device.
- Biometric: to lock the app and the vault with your fingerprint or face.
- Internet and network state: ads and purchases only. Analysis does not use the network.
- Folders you pick with Android's folder picker are read only to list and clean files you choose.
What we do not do
- We do not require an account and we do not run servers that receive your photos or files.
- We do not use analytics or crash-reporting SDKs of our own.
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not clear other apps' cache or claim to speed up your phone.
Your responsibility
Deleting is your decision. Review what you remove: similar photos are not identical. Use the trash and undo options, and keep backups of important photos.
Children
Cleanly is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices and rights
- Delete the app to remove all locally stored data (including the vault). Files saved to your gallery stay until you delete them.
- Reset or limit your Android advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads, and change ad consent where offered.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions in Google Play → Profile → Payments & subscriptions.
- Depending on where you live (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, LGPD and similar laws) you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of personal data held about you. We hold no personal profile about you; for data held by RevenueCat or Google, contact them or write to us and we will help.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app or on its Google Play page.
